Skip Holm brought Dago Red back to the winner's circle again for 2000 with no strong competition, Strega fell out without ever running a Racing lap after the Dwight Thorn Merlin decided to begin doing some unplanned internal modifications after melting down a piston during a qualifying run the engine received some massive overnight work and she did qualify but the bearings went into self destruct mode possibly from aluminum from the meltdown so all the team could do was button her up for the year. Another bearing failure struck The Dreadnought team so the Massive 4360 Hawker was relegated to going home on a flatbed with September Racer keeping her company with a bearing less 3350 but work has commenced on both aircraft and there is a good chance to see these two back on the ramp in September, Another of the failed engine crowd was Czech Mate with failed cylinders on its P&W R-2800 a normally bullet proof engine but when you make H-P you can break parts, she was looking very smart again sporting a new blue wing, The engine failure was a bit of a surprise to many as it had been reported that the team had logged many hours of testing time prior to this year's event, Best wishes to the team for 2001!, Critical Mass made a very strong showing with just a few minor faults the most scary one was a fuel leak during start up for Friday's gold race, no fire occurred and the team was ready to roll for the Saturday silver race and they handily won that race and bumped up to the Sunday gold race where they ran into a problem with there ADI system that slowed them down a notch, Voodoo was in attendance with her passion purple paint and a Jack Hovey prepared Merlin and she was showing some good performance but had an unfortunate incident at the start of Sundays gold race when Matt Jackson was a bit fast on the power and jumped the start witch put him an automatic 1 lap down, 

Sports Class

The races this year for the most part were run in the usual safe and professional manner with only One major incident. One of the Sports Class competitors suffered a failure of his prop governor at he start of a heat race, he was able to make a very fast landing but unfortunately over ran the runway and proceeded to do  a major Re Kit of his aircraft. Thankfully the pilot suffered only minor injuries, except for a Major dent in his wallet, The lanceair entry picked up the win on Sunday but  they were doing major engine work after every race The first appearance of the thunder Mustang added a different look for the class and did very well for its first competition with much more to come with a possibility of three appearing at the 2001 event.
