Grant
The General Service Technician Program (GST) was developed by the National Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) to help meet the need for entry-level technicians with a broad range of skills. Students who complete the GST program will be prepared to enter a post-secondary automotive program and will have mastered over 160 basic skills required for entry-level employment in the automotive industry. Ketchikan High School offers 3 years of GST classes, which are available to students in Grade 10 or higher.

We strongly recommend that students enroll in the GST1 class in Grade 10, so that the GST Task List can be completed over the span of 3 years - a total of 895 hours. If the student enters the program in Grade 11, only 537 hours are available to complete Task List.

Seniors who complete all the skills in the GST program will be awarded the GST Program Certificate of Completion.

Ketchikan High School has a Tech Prep article agreement with the University of Alaska Southeast which gives Senior program completers the option of 7 college credits.

Seniors enrolled in GST2 or GST3 may elect IN ADVANCE to receive one math credit in place of one elective credit.
