HIGH TECH-HIGH TOUCH
Are you a hands-on person with a fascination with how things work? A
Sherlock Holmes type of problem solver? A person who likes to learn and
use new technology?Consider choosing a career as an AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNICIAN! Automotive Service Technicians inspect, maintain, and repair automobiles and light trucks that run on gasoline, diesel, or electricity. They perform basic care and maintenance such as oil changes and tire service. They need to be able to diagnose complex computerized systems on the modern vehicle. Because of the increasing sophistication of automobile electronic systems, the automobile service technician must be able to use electronic shop equipment and work with computerized engine , transmission, and body systems while maintaining his or her skills with traditional mechanical hand and power tools. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities are very good for those who complete post-secondary programs. Many more jobs will become available when "baby-boomer" generation-era technicians retire in the next 10 years.
